TRAILER

David Serero has carefully crafted a narrative that reveals Rocancourt’s journey from modest beginnings to international conman, infiltrating the American press as a member of the Rockefeller family and going on the run, even with the FBI and Interpol pursuing him. Serero’s commitment to capturing the essence of Rocancourt’s complex character shines through in every frame, providing a balanced perspective that transcends the headlines and investigates the motivations behind Rocancourt’s actions.

The story of Christophe Rocancourt is one of extraordinary destiny—an exceptional life that’s nearly impossible to recreate today. Christophe’s journey resembles the most excellent film ever made. I belong to the generation that grew up with his book, now a cult classic. It’s a French tale with an American rhythm, resonating with everyone as we can all find a piece of ourselves in it. It’s become an urban legend that is part of our heritage. I wanted the film to explore the psychology of the character Rocancourt, allowing him to express himself fully. The film opens with a quote from Christophe: “Don’t judge me; the courts have already taken care of that.” It was crucial to uncover his story through his perspective, enriched by the insights that maturity has given him. I learned a lot while making this film; it feels more relevant than ever,” said David Serero.

David Serero, an award-winning filmmaker celebrated for his skill in transforming intricate real-life stories into compelling narratives, has skillfully crafted Rocancourt to encapsulate the essence of its mysterious subject. Through exclusive interviews, archival footage, and dramatic reenactments, the film illuminates Rocancourt’s rise and fall, providing audiences with a thought-provoking cinematic experience. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.

“We are thrilled to present Rocancourt at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, and to share this remarkable story with audiences at the iconic Chinese Theatre,” said David Serero, thanking Mr. Nino Simone, the Festival’s President and Founder. “Christophe Rocancourt’s life is stranger than fiction, and this film aims to delve into the thin line between deception and genius.”

The screening at the festival is anticipated to draw industry professionals, film enthusiasts, and those fascinated by true crime stories that defy imagination.
