Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez, a Spanish-language musical bursting with energy and emotional depth, has claimed the spotlight with 15 entries across multiple categories. Among the highlights are nods for its leading and supporting actresses, including Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Selena Gomez, cementing the film as a force to be reckoned with this awards season.
Not far behind, Edward Berger’s Conclave, a gripping drama set within the intrigue-filled walls of the Vatican, has earned 14 nominations. With standout performances by Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci recognized, the film’s intensity and craft have clearly resonated with BAFTA voters.
While these two dominate, the competition is fierce. Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist—a visually striking exploration of art and architecture—shares 11 nominations with Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and Coralie Fargeat’s genre-defying sci-fi thriller The Substance. Sean Baker’s Anora also finds itself in the conversation, celebrated for its raw storytelling and a standout performance by Mikey Madison.

As the countdown begins, the second round of voting is set to open on Jan. 3. The nominations will be unveiled on Jan. 15 through a live event at BAFTA headquarters in London, setting the stage for the Feb. 16 ceremony, hosted by the ever-engaging David Tennant.
