Forced to leave their families behind, two Jewish teenagers Fanye (Arielle Beth Klein, Drama
Desk Nominated Death of Salesman in Yiddish, NTD Network’s A Good Cop) and Rivkah (Ali Stoner, Black Rabbit -Netflix, The Equalizer-CBS and FBI Most Wanted) flee their Polish hometown during the Nazi invasion. Chased through the woods by an armed Nazi Soldier (Bobby Hannum), the girls are forced to make continual life-and-death decisions. The remaining cast also includes Carine Montbertrand (The Resident Acting Company, University of Delaware’s Resident Ensemble Players.) and Jonathan Lipnick
(Fleishman is in Trouble – Hulu).
With cinematography by Kevin Xiang Ming Yu (Fish Bones SXSW 2025) The Red Shoe had its world premiere at the Oscar-qualifying FLICKERS Rhode Island International Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Hearts, Minds, Souls Award. The short film garnered many nominations during its New York Premiere at SOHO International Film Festival including Best US Short, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Lead Performance (both Klein and Stoner were nominated). After playing at Denver Jewish Film Festival, Ojai Film Festival (Cinefemme Block), and Wellsboro Film Festival, Klein won Best Actress at AMT International Film Festival in NYC completing the festival run.

With a story-line that flashes back and forth for the main characters from their joyful childhood to a terrifying present, as well as an imaginary dream-filled future, The Red Shoe seeks to emphasize the lost humanity of victims of the Holocaust. “Shedding light on the psychological horror, decisions, and effects of war – these are real people with lives that were ripped away” states Arielle Klein.
Jampel Productions was founded by writer, producer, and actress Arielle Beth Klein and is known for its previous production of Tired Mind, which garnered selections at eight film festivals in 2022. Klein’s full length theater production of Obit was nominated by Naked Angels Theater Company for the 47th annual Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.
