Jamel Baines, writer, creator, and producer of the upcoming TV drama series ‘Gladys Park’, is passionate about bringing the stories of the homeless population in Skid Row to a wider audience. Inspired by his own past experience of living near Skid Row and experiencing homelessness, Baines aims to create a raw and authentic portrayal of a community that is often forgotten.

The series explores the power struggles between the homeless population, new businesses, and the city enforcements, as well as the corruption and financial gain that exists within the higher up. As the world of gentrification collides with the harsh realities of Skid Row, Baines hopes to shed light on the complex issues that people living there face.

Baines says, “I want to pick up the story in a raw and authentic way, giving voice to the unheard and the forgotten. I intend to explore ‘The Box’ and bring it to a series for awareness, hoping to initiate positive change for those living in Skid Row.” With a focus on community service and a dedication to highlighting some true events, Baines has created a series that promises to be one of the most compelling portrayals of Skid Row to date.

With a talented cast and crew behind him, Baines is dedicated to delivering a high-quality production that will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression. “Gladys Park” is set to be a must-watch series for anyone interested in socially conscious storytelling and compelling drama.
