Rising Stars: Meet Director and Editor Zheyu Liang
Born in China and based in LA, Zheyu Liang has worked as a director and editor in the film industry for many years. She is passionate about humanistic storytelling and bringing diverse and underrepresented stories to life. After receiving her MFA degree from the prestigious UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television, Zheyu continues to excel in her filmmaking career. Many films that Zheyu directed and edited had strong film festival runs where they garnered both domestic and international awards.

Transplant is an observational and reflective documentary about two rootless and tenacious Chinese immigrants who are trying to make a home on foreign soil. Lying somewhere between a dream and a nightmare, they came to the United States in their 40s and faced a tenuous existence in a land that never quite feels like home.
The Mental State Will Have Its Official Premiere At This Year’s Newport Film Festival
The Mental State is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The Out of Shot film was led by director James Camali and cinematographer Ronnee Swenton, the company’s founders. The duo brought in Matthew Einstein of Tradition Pictures and Glen Trotiner to produce the picture. The film was shot in Syracuse, NY, and wrapped filming in an astonishing twenty-five days.
