Three Los Angeles Film School Alumni Credited on Two Oscars Winning Projects

The Los Angeles Film School proudly celebrates three alumni who contributed to some of the industry’s biggest winners at last night’s 97th Academy Awards. Three alumni were credited with work on films including “Wicked” and “Dune: Part Two,” which collectively earned four Oscars.

This year, a total of 10 alumni from The Los Angeles Film School contributed to nine films that were nominated for awards at the 97th Academy Awards including “A Complete Unknown,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Nickel Boys,” “Wicked,” “Inside Out 2,” “Alien: Romulus,” “Better Man,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” and “The Six Triple Eight.”

The nominations across various categories showcase the talents of the school’s graduates. Credited alumni include:

  • Mikaela Padilla (2022), Foley Mixer on “Wicked”
  • Alec Nickel (2014), B Camera Second Assistant on the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown”
  • Dominic Koletes (2004) and Jason Beale (2002), post-production executives on “Dune: Part Two”
  • Devin Stovall (2019), a Stunt Performer on “Nickel Boys”
  • Danielle Adams (2015), an Additional Re-Recording Mixer on “Inside Out 2”
  • Derek Thomason (2011), Production Assistant on “Alien: Romulus”
  • Maurice Vy (2009), Video-Assist Operator on “Better Man”
  • Nathan Runyan (2022), VFX/Mocap Coordinator on “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”
  • Eugene Coty (2004), who worked as a Medic on “The Six Triple Eight”

The Los Angeles Film School is proud of the achievements of these alumni and the many other alumni whose constant dedication, talent, and creativity continue to shape the industry through each of their individual contributions.

The Los Angeles Film School is an accredited higher education institution located in the heart of Hollywood. The school has served the community and its students since 1999 and offers entertainment-focused Bachelor of Science degrees in Animation, Audio Production, Digital Filmmaking, Entertainment Business, Film Production, Graphic Design, Media Communications, Music Production and Writing for Film & TV; and Associate of Science degrees in Audio Production, Music Production, and Film. The campus facilities include the historic RCA Building at 6363 Sunset Blvd. and the studios at 6690 Sunset Blvd., where students have access to industry-standard equipment, editing labs, dub stages and recording studios.

The school’s faculty of industry professionals have earned credits on major motion pictures, video games and music recordings. Numerous alumni have received awards at film festivals worldwide, engineered multi-platinum selling albums, and some credits include GRAMMY and Oscar nominations and wins. The school is a VA-approved institution and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
