Randy Charach’s highly anticipated action thriller “Clutch” has just hit post-production, The film stars Kaiwi Lyman (Den of Thieves), Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn), Augie Duke (Mayans), and is written and directed by Michael Merino (Acceleration).
This was Randy’s 5th film for 2024, and we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to sit down with him for an update on Clutch and also discuss his slate of other films currently in post.
Can you give us a glimpse into the inspiration behind Clutch and what audiences can expect from it?
The inspiration for “Clutch” came from a desire to blend classic action-adventure elements with a modern, high-stakes narrative. We wanted to create a film that harkens back to the great adventure films of the past while incorporating contemporary themes and technology.

As a producer, what drew you to the script?
What immediately drew me to the script of “Clutch” was its unique blend of heart-pounding action and deeply emotional storytelling. The script managed to balance high-stakes adventure with moments of genuine human connection, which is a rare and compelling combination.

You recently shot “Lies Between Us.” What was the experience like working alongside Eric Roberts like?
Working with Eric Roberts on “Lies Between Us” was an incredible experience. Eric and I played partner Detective’s in the film and I was honored to work so closely with such a generous actor.

This is your 5th film for 2024, what’s been the key to keeping films on budget and on time in 2024?
Achieving the milestone of producing five films in 2024 has been both challenging and rewarding. The key to keeping these films on budget and on time lies in meticulous planning, efficient communication, and strong teamwork.
First and foremost, thorough pre-production planning is essential. We invest significant time and resources into developing detailed project plans that include comprehensive budgets, realistic timelines, and contingency plans for potential setbacks. This preparation ensures that everyone involved is on the same page from the start and that we can anticipate and mitigate risks effectively.
Efficient communication is another crucial factor. Keeping an open line of communication among all departments ensures that any issues or changes are addressed promptly. We use project management tools and regular check-ins to keep everyone updated and aligned with the project goals. This helps us to resolve any potential bottlenecks quickly and maintain a smooth workflow.
