With the 24-hour news cycle dominated by headlines involving culture wars and gender issues, we need catalysts for thoughtful, compassionate, and intelligent dialogue. Acclaimed editor Miguel Amodio works on films that do just that.

Recently, Amodio finished the indie feature “Two Lives in Pittsburgh”, the highly anticipated indie film about a traditional blue-collar guy who is torn between who he has always been and who needs to be as he is confronted by his mother’s illness and his child’s exploration of gender.

Amodio overcame countless challenges while editing the film, not the least of which was the pandemic. “The film was shot at the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic,” notes Amodio. “That was obviously not the plan, but because of the pivot, certain scenes that were supposed to be “bigger in scope” (extras at the school, locations, actors leaving, etc.) needed to get paired down, simplified, or cut all together. This created multiple challenges with regard to the variety of exteriors, locations, and scope.” Undaunted, Amodio leveraged his extensive experience to make the film feel as “open” as possible, ultimately creating a beautiful indie feature that is gaining buzz throughout the industry.

For almost two decades, Amodio has honed his craft and cultivated an extensive background in both narrative and documentary film editing, working on over 2000 projects ranging from independent films to major studio productions. He possesses a deep understanding of storytelling dynamics from a post-production perspective. All of this comes together with a powerful capacity to collaborate and communicate with a full range of artists, resulting in an editing process that illuminates the most exceptional aspects of a story.

Amodio’s filmography includes award winning short films, feature films, music videos, and micro documentaries. He has worked on projects in the Culver City Film Festival, Slamdance, LA Webfest, Sunset Film Festival, Chicago Comedy Festival, Holly Shorts, as well as distribution on Shorts HD. He edited the upcoming “Devil’s Knight”, a Sharknado-style fantasy/horror feature directed by Adam Werth, “Nova”, a sci-fi short directed and written by David McAbee, and was a part of the ABC Discovers: Los Angeles Talent Showcase.

Additionally, Amodio currently is the lead editor and post-production supervisor for a specialized production company called Plate Pros, as well as an investor and technical collaborator with The Car Stage, an entertainment company based in New York City. Amodio also won a prestigious Cleo award for creating a 360-degree behind the scenes video for “Mission Impossible: Fallout”.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Amodio now lives in Los Angeles. He personifies the nexus of filmmaking, artistry, and technical savvy. With visionairies like him creating content, we can be assured of both being entertained and connecting with each other.
