September 27, 2022 – VANCOUVER, Canada – After its premiere at the Lebanese Film Festival in Canada, this moving short film is finally online and streaming for people of all ages. Home is an ultra-short film by director and writer Sabine Kahwaji. The film follows a a memoir of a woman who recalls her challenging journey as an immigrant, with the hopes of making her way back home. This is one of those shorts that can easily grow into a feature, let alone a series. According to Kahwaji, this is just a sample of something much larger.

The beauty of the direction taken by the filmmaker is telling a story in a simplistic way that is family-friendly. It’s time we speak about the immigrant experience in a way that’s approachable to children too. It shows sadness and isolation, yet contrasts with resilience and perseverance.

When speaking to the director on why she made this, Kahwaji stated “5x Fest” chose seven artists around the city of Vancouver, Canada to fund and create a project of their choice. As one of the seven, she immediately saw this as an opportunity to tell a story in a way she’s never done before: animation. When asked why she decided to make this film, she stated much of this film is inspired by stories her father told her about his early times in Canada. This is a must-watch short for families and children, streaming now on Plex TV
