Songwriter Ali Ciwanro on SZA and his work on the Peacock series Bel-Air

Today we have a special guest with us. He is only 21 years old and is already one of the most influential young talents in Europe. We are talking about Ali Ciwanro, a successful songwriter with an incredible sense of lyricism and artistic aesthetics.

Welcome, Ali. How are you?

Ali Ciwanro: I’m fine. Thank you very much.

Let’s start with the first question. Word is getting around that you worked with singer SZA on her most recently released album “SOS.” What can you say about that?

Ali Ciwanro: I was involved in the album in some way, but my help was so minimal that it’s not necessarily worth mentioning. People like to exaggerate.

That’s probably true. What is your general opinion of the album, if you can evaluate it objectively?

Ali Ciwanro: It is one of the best albums of the last few years. SZA is a talented writer. I’m a songwriter myself and can quickly tell when someone is a true lyricist. I can definitely see that she is a true artist.

Really interesting. Another topic of interest is the new Bel-Air series from Peacock. You have openly communicated that you were involved in the production. What exactly did this involvement look like?

Ali Ciwanro: I have good contacts within the music industry. They were looking for people with knowledge of music who could help put together a suitable soundtrack for the series. A few friends then suggested me internally, and it came about. I didn’t put the soundtrack together on my own, though. There was a whole team involved, as I said.

That must have been a nice feeling for you.

Ali Ciwanro: Absolutely! I’ve always been a big fan of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air myself, so it was a great honor for me.

Of course, it’s great when you get an opportunity like this and then seize it.

Ali Ciwanro: Definitely.

All right. We thank you for taking the time to answer our questions and wish you continued success. We’re glad you were there.

Ali Ciwanro: The pleasure is all mine.
