Laura Dern to Honor George Clooney in Venice

Academy Award winner Laura Dern will deliver the laudatio honoring George Clooney as he receives the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

The tribute will take place during the festival’s opening ceremony on Wednesday, September 2, at 7 p.m. in the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido di Venezia.

Dern recently appeared alongside Clooney in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, which premiered in competition at Venice in 2025. Her long history with the festival also includes Haunted Summer (1988), October Sky (1998), Dr. T & the Women (2000), Inland Empire (2006), Marriage Story (2019) and The Son (2022).

Her performance in Marriage Story later earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
