5- Ena Sendijarević

Amsterdam based, best known for her short film Import, her work is warm, lots of feel-good moments. Extremely original, both visually and content wise, her creating process screams confidence. Her new film, Sweet Dreams, is expected to be her best yet.

4- Kira Kovalenko

Kira seems like someone who is not afraid to be herself and has courage, you can tell through her work the level of no-care she has for any rules or guidelines.

3- Edson Oda

Edson’s feature, Nine Days, is a beautiful, soulful and unique film. You can feel his level of great command of the craft when you watch his work, a maturity and restraint that isn’t showy or trend-driven, and a real understanding of humanity that shows in his writing and the great performances he gets.

2- Eslam Hozayen

Have you ever heard someone say “You have to watch it again to understand it”? because, well, that’s this guy’s work in a nutshell. Often a psychological roller coaster when you give his work a go, very abnormal yet unique way of story-telling.

1- Jérémy Comte

A young filmmaker from Quebec who made a short film called Fauve in 2018 which went to the Academy Awards. He is such a breath of fresh air, and his work is super-cinematic, with a strong sense of tension creating a very singular atmosphere.
