A Journey of an Aspiring Filmmaker

“Keep your face always towards the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.” – A famous saying about positivity and following passion, from that derives the journey of an aspiring, independent filmmaker Aadnan Rahaman Lewis, who believes that success is no accident. His hard work, perseverance, sacrifice and most of all, his love for what he does has been his motto all along.

His hard work, perseverance, sacrifice and most of all, his love for what he does has been his motto all along.

Aadnan Rahaman Lewis was born on 5th September 1983 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Being very passionate towards everything creative and culture, Aadnan considers himself as a dreamer, achiever and a person with persistence.

Aadnan had completed his SSC from Residential Model School & College in 1999 and HSC From Dhaka College in 2002. From his school days he was friendly and trustworthy and had this keen knowledge and impetuosity towards leadership which lead him to be selected as ‘Prefect’ more than once. This achievement narrowed down his way of being a creative leader. With the target of pursuing his dreams he got admitted in Stamford University and graduated from Film & Media studies in 2010.

After obtaining dual Diploma in Graphic Design and 3D Animation from Arena Multimedia, he bagged the scholarship for his excellent performance in Graphic Design and 3D Animation. Which lead him to join ‘Thunderbolt’ as a Graphic Designer.

It can be said that passion for creativity and performing arts was in his veins as his elder sister Nayar Sultana Lopa, also known as ‘Tuni’, was an actress back in the 1980s. Aadnan also did the role of a young boy in the same drama series which was as an advertising campaign for creating public awareness. When he was a young boy, he was also interested in dancing and wanted to be a professional dancer. Since childhood his thirst for art and culture paved the way for him towards the future.

His first commercial work as a director was a music video of a renowned singing competition winner while still being a student. He also showed his expertise in video editing by winning several web awards. Keeping up the practice, he made some student short films as well.

Always thriving for newness and adventure Aadnan carried on working in ‘White Shark Communication’ as a Multimedia Expert – where he dealt with Graphics, A/V Presentation and Web Design; advertising agency called ‘Benchmark’ as a part-time Web Designer; production company called ‘Half Stop Down’ as a freelance Title Animator for animating the company logo.

Completing the B.A. degree from film and Media, enhanced the unwavering drive in him for creativity and he started researching for advertising. To imply his diverse innovative ideas and creativity, he established his own production company called ‘Resollusion’ which emerged with the slogan ‘Resolute your illusion’.

Aadnan Rahaman’s works include: IBSYS Telecom TV Commercial, as director and editor (2009), Polar Ice Cream TV Commercial, as director and editor (2009), Resollusion Promotional Video, as director, producer, editor, and colorist (2011), Srabondhara Music Video, as director, editor, and colorist (2012), Volunteer Work of CSC Ltd with Operation Smile; Short documentary, as director, producer, editor, cinematographer and writer (2015), Mahindra Maxximo Plus VX TV Commercial; Short Video, as director, editor, and cinematographer (2015), Mahindra Bolero Maxitruck Plus TV Commercial; Short Video, as director, editor, cinematographer and colorist (2015) and A Tale of a Dreamer: RANGS AV (Short), as director, editor, cinematographer and writer (2017).

Apart from above mentioned work, Aadnan has deep passion towards making full length feature film. In the light of that he got registered as a member of Bangladesh Film Directors Association (BFDA). He is currently working on his first feature film, which is in the pre-production stage and awaiting to start filming.

Aadnan’s extensive knowledge of filmmaking, and detailed understanding of Photography and Advertising, made him one-of-a-kind filmmaker which is well needed for present day’s film industry. His honesty towards culture and dedication to build an artistic society is the essence of his inspiration to work. And Aadnan believes, the benefits of an accomplished journey cannot be weighed in terms of perfect moments, but in terms of how this journey affects and changes our surroundings.
