Liquid Media Group’s Exclusive First Look Screening Of New iNDIEFLIX Film “RACE To Be Human” At SXSW

Celebrating a convergence of tech, film and music industries, the annual SXSW festival concluded this past Sunday in Austin. It was the first in-person SXSW event in two years.

Liquid Media Group company iNDIEFLIX, a global subscription video on-demand streaming service, successfully delivered a worldwide sneak peek of its groundbreaking new film RACE to Be Human. The virtual screening event at SXSW Interactive began on Friday, March 11, and ran for one week.

RACE to Be Human was available exclusively on Eluvio LIVE, and was the second successful blockchain streaming event this year.An iNDIEFLIX Original documentary, the film explores the impact of race and racism on our mental health and how we can collectively honor dignity and pursue belonging in our communities. It weaves together personal stories through the lens of students and parents, with perspectives and data from educators, mental health professionals, and diversity and inclusion experts.

Appropriate for ages 10 and up, RACE to Be Human is meant to facilitate discussions in the classroom, the workplace and at home, promoting healing, empathy and compassion.

“I wanted to make a film that addressed the confusion and apprehension we often feel when talking about race and racism,” said Scilla Andreen, Director, Filmmaker, Author, CEO and Co-Founder of iNDIEFLIX. “RACE to Be Human illustrates the impact that courageous conversations about race and racism can have on ourselves and our communities when we approach them with curiosity, self-reflection, and empathy.”

In addition to the film screening, Andreen participated in a series of panels at SXSW, including the Blockchain Creative Labs, where she and others explored entrepreneurship in Web3 and how women within this space are leading through innovation. This panel also included Melody Hildebrandt (President of Blockchain Creative Labs), Anjali Young (CCO of Collab.Land), Shelley Zalis (CEO of The Female Quotient), and Rachel Wolfson (Author and Senior Reporter for Cointelegraph).

Since the screening, positive reviews for RACE to Be Human have been pouring in. “Powerful film. From start to finish, this film had me thinking about myself, my students, my S.O., and my children. It had me thinking about the past, the present, and the future of society,” shared a counselor from the American School Counselor Association.
