“Civil War” Stageplay Premieres at MATCH Theater, Showcasing Debut Work by Former Executive Pastor Turned Playwright, Dr. Jovante Ham

Dr. Jovante Ham, former executive pastor turned playwright, is set to debut his first stageplay, “Civil War,” at the MATCH Theater on June 23rd.

Houston, TX — May 5, 2024 — Dr. Jovante Ham, former executive pastor turned playwright, is set to debut his first stageplay, “Civil War,” at the MATCH Theater on June 23rd. Stepping down from his role to answer a divine call from God, Dr. Ham brings his unique perspective and profound insight to the stage with this gripping production.

“Civil War” delves deep into the heart of the present-day Church, where condemnation and division often overshadow the paramount goal of saving souls. Drawing inspiration from Mark 3:24-25, the play portrays a clash between the old-school church and the new-school church, both grappling with internal struggles that threaten to tear them apart.

“It’s a tragic loss when we forget our purpose,” says Dr. Jovante Ham. As Mark 3:24-25 says “A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse. Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart. ‘Civil War’ aims to underscore the vital importance of unity within the body of Christ.”

Starring a talented cast including Ojinga Green as Bishop A.W. Jones, Kendryk Youngblood as Pastor Ron, Jarel Francis as Deacon Kendrick Brown, and an ensemble of skilled actors, “Civil War” promises to captivate audiences with its powerful storytelling and thought-provoking themes.

“We must collaborate, much like the harmonious functions of a body working together, to fulfill the Father’s work and manifest the kingdom on earth,” adds Dr. Jovante Ham.

Don’t miss the premiere of “Civil War” at the MATCH Theater, located at Matchbox #4 in downtown Houston, on June 23rd. Tickets are available now, offering audiences a chance to experience a transformative journey of faith, redemption, and the urgent call for unity within Christianity.
