After cultivating a long and successful career as a television producer, Kathleen Lojkovic is ready to take matters into her own hands with her own production company, Back 2 Originals Productions.

Lojkovic’s interest in television began at a young age. She spent her childhood in Michigan before her family moved back to Chicago, where she had been born. There, she was an audience member at local ABC show Kennedy at Night. This experience fascinated Lojkovic and led her to make television part of her future job.

After deciding she wanted to pursue production as a career, Lojkovic majored in Radio, Television, and Film at Northwestern University. During this time, she worked as an intern for CBS and WGN before becoming a production assistant for The Friday Night Show.

After completing her education and early work in the industry, Lojkovic continued to work as a producer on shows like AM Chicago and Off the Record. Then, her career took a detour. After starting a family, Lojkovic chose to move into a job that would allow her to spend more time at home with her children. She spent thirty years working as an interior designer, using her creative talent and keen eye in a new capacity.

Now, Lojkovic is ready to return to her first love, production, with her own company. She acknowledges that there have been plenty of changes over the years, but this has not affected her love for working in television. “I’m most proud of the fact that after all these years, I still want to be creative and be involved with new opportunities to meet people and tell their stories,” she shares.

Back 2 Originals gives Lojkovic the chance to work in production again while adapting to industry changes like the turn towards streaming services. The company is responsible for several impressive projects, including the Fox show The Mediator, starring Ice-T, and the IFC film An Acceptable Loss, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Tika Sumpter.

Currently, Lojkovic and the Back 2 Originals team are working on Mr. Livingstone, I Presume?, a new show starring Barrie Livingstone, interior designer, realtor, and owner of the store House of Barrie. The show follows Livingstone on his international travels as he explores boutique hotels and different cultures across the globe.

Lojkovic looks forward to telling stories she is passionate about with Back 2 Originals. This includes caring for the environment. It is important to Lojkovic that her company focuses on sustainability. “I’m really drawn to environmental and animal welfare projects right now,” she says. “All these issues can seem overwhelming, but if people make small changes individually, then collectively we can affect a large change.” Of course, Lojkovic also wants to be successful with her new work. According to her, this means “feeling accomplished from within, knowing that you did your best and gave it a shot.” After taking time away from production, Lojkovic is excited to be working in her field of choice again, bringing entertainment to new fans using new methods.
